About Dr. Steve

Veterinarian, Educator, and Supporter of Those Who Walk with Animals Through Life, Death, and Change

Dr. Steven Kruzeniski is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and a lifelong student of care — across species, systems, and states of consciousness. His work lives at the intersection of social veterinary medicine, human support, and psychedelic harm reduction, with a deep respect for the bonds we form with the beings we care for.

For over a decade, Dr. Steve has lived and worked across the Americas, Africa, and Asia, serving as both a clinician and an instructor to veterinary professionals and students from around the world. He is currently based in Peru, where his work combines:

  • Social veterinary service, one health education and community health outreach

  • Educational advocacy for animal welfare and spectrum of care

  • Emotional support for animal guardians & veterinary professionals

  • Grief care and psychedelic integration for those navigating animal loss or transformation

His practice is grounded in the understanding that caring for animals is deeply personal — a process that touches not just biology, but emotion, identity, spirituality, and belonging.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Steve offers in-depth consultations and mentorship for both animal guardians and veterinary professionals, creating space to explore:

  • Complex medical decisions and ethical dilemmas

  • End-of-life care, anticipatory grief, and bereavement

  • The emotional and relational dimensions of the human–animal bond

  • The role of ritual, reflection, and ecological connection in healing

  • Psychedelic harm reduction and integration related to animal loss, caregiving, or professional stress

He works from a spectrum of care perspective — recognizing that each individual, family, and community brings different resources, values, and stories. His approach honors these variations without judgment, with an eye toward empowerment and dignity.

Across continents and communities, one truth remains clear: the love for animals is universal — and the act of caring for them can transform us.

How to Work Together

If you're facing a challenging decision about your animal companion’s health, moving through grief, or seeking mentorship and reflection as a veterinary professional, Dr. Steve offers 60-minute virtual sessions designed for depth, support, and clarity.

These are not rushed appointments — they are conversations meant to hold space for the complexity of living and working with animals in an uncertain world.

“Decisions relating to animal health can be difficult — especially as the end of life nears. I offer space for thoughtful conversation, exploring not only your companion’s needs, but how those decisions may affect you and your loved ones.”

A portion of every session helps fund community animal health projects and street animal care in underserved areas.
